NAMI Waukesha Advocacy Committee

Are you passionate about raising awareness for mental health? NAMI Waukesha is looking for new members of the newly formed Advocacy Committee

NAMI of Waukesha County has always recognized the need for community, volunteer led, mental health advocacy.  As a result of this, in 2016 we decided to increase our emphasis on legal, institutional and educational advocacy on behalf of the one in five individuals in our community who are affected by mental health conditions by creating the NAMI of Waukesha County Advocacy Committee.  The committee is comprised of passionate and enthusiastic members from all backgrounds, experience levels and walks of life.  They are united by the belief that everyone deserves high quality, affordable access to mental health resources and they are dedicated to ensuring the availability of services through various advocacy activities.

The Advocacy Committee focuses on Mental Health Awareness, Availability, Access and Acceptance.  We develop specific action plans and outreach agendas aimed at helping our neighbors with their struggles.  The committee will continue to meet monthly throughout 2017 and we invite anyone who is interested in helping us to join and lend their time, talent and support.

For more information on joining this important NAMI of Waukesha County initiative, please contact Cathy Friend at 262-409-2748 or cathy@namiwaukesha.org.
